Richter blossom photos

I wanted to have all of the info and photos that I have of Richter's plants all in one place.  This is all from Candy's blog.  Without Candy's efforts, most of these would be gone forever.  I have leaves down, or babies, of each of these but none of mine have grown large enough to bloom.

Softique (1957) 07/09/1969 (A. Richter) Double pale pink. Ovate, quilted, fluted. Standard

(Per Cy, on the AVBrats board, the original Softique plant in the early to mid-70s had light colored foliage (very pale foliage that readily bleached) with absolutely no red undersides. Either Candy's plant has been mislabeled, misidentified or reverted (throwback to a previous generation).  The original catalog description was as follows ""Huge baby pink fluffy double. Slightly frilled foliage.")

A note about growing Tipt. It needs to be placed at the center of your lights and maybe a little closer to the lights as well.

The following blog is mine.  Candy has received leaves of this but I don't know how they're doing at this point.  Renee is the reason that Candy sent me leaves of all the plants above.

  1. Missing from this list is Bambino. I have leaves down and one small starter but no photos of a blooming plant at this time.

  2. Jingle Bells. Info by Cy on the AVBrats board. I saw the name on the 1977 AVM Honor Roll list and asked about it.

Jingle Bells has light to medium red flowers and pale wavy foliage. I've only seen it once around 1973. Nonetheless, it was popular with violet growers as I think it's on AVSA's Honor Roll of Violets.

    1. Hi Bart,
I have Renee, Richter's Charm Song, and Richter's Pearly Shells. Would you like to trade when the weather warms up in spring? I live in West Virginia.
